The Try Guys — the former Buzzfeed employees turned independent YouTuber foursome turned accidental gossip vortexes — are down another guy. Eugene Lee Yang, a founding member of the group, is departing, leaving just two members. The previous loss was Ned Fulmer, and if you don’t remember that drama, then either read this or live in bliss. Zach Kornfeld and Keith Habersberger will remain Try Guys. The current season of Try Guys content will be Yang’s final, while Kornfeld and Habersberger are shifting to focus on a subscription-based model called 2nd Try TV, outside the free YouTube space.
“We’re at a point where we find that our taste and our audience’s taste is at odds with what algorithms, specifically, the YouTube algorithm rewards,†Habersberger told Rolling Stone. “And so by doing 2nd Try TV, we’re creating a space where we can bet on ourselves and bet on our fans to support the shows they want to see.†Yang will focus on other ventures, like being cool and gay. He’s already voice-acted in an Oscar-nominated animated feature in which he played a hot knight, so we’re not too worried about him.
