While most of December is spent finding gifts for others, the time between Christmas and early January is always ideal for finding gifts for yourself thanks to the glut of year-end sales to be shopped. So, if you didn’t unwrap those fresh bedsheets or that cozy sweater or those new waterproof boots, now would be the time to treat yourself while retailers from Brooklinen to Everlane to Nordstrom are slashing prices on countless items. As anyone who has shopped a post-Christmas sale knows, the best deals can often be buried, which is why we’ve been keeping an eye on all of them in order to find the stuff worth spending money on. To make this list easier to shop, we’ve arranged it alphabetically by retailer (in Strategist speak, that’s from Anthropologie to Zappos). Where applicable, we’ve also noted how long each retailer’s sale lasts.
Anthropologie’s end-of-year “Winter Tag Sale” is a sale-on-sale situation where more than 1,000 already-on-sale items (excluding furniture) are an extra 40 percent off. The additional discount on eligible products, including the ones featured below, applies automatically once you’ve added them to your cart.
Over at Backcountry, a bunch of stuff from some hardwearing brands like Patagonia, Arc’teryx, The North Face, Fjallraven, and more is up to 70 percent off. There’s no end date listed for the deals, which suggests they could end sooner rather than later (so shop accordingly).
The After-Christmas Sale at Bloomingdale’s, meanwhile, is on through December 31. Lots of full-price items are up to half off, and you can get an additional 50 percent off a bunch of already-on-sale stuff marked “Extra 50 Percent Off Clearance.” (Final prices for sale-on-sale items will appear when you check out.)
Through January 1, Brooklinen, a maker of some of our favorite cozy sheets (and shower curtains and quilts and sweatpants) is offering a 15 percent discount on all of its linens, including the below linen-sheet set that made our list of the best linen sheets. Its loungewear (including robes) is discounted even more at 25 percent off. There’s no minimum purchase price required to get the discounts, which will be applied automatically at checkout.
Coach’s (extended) post-Christmas sale runs through January 18, offering 50 percent off women’s handbags and accessories. Using the code FREESHIP at checkout will also get you free shipping.
Dermstore’s Last Chance Sale, on through December 31, includes an extra 10 percent off all sale items (many of which are already 30 percent off) when you use the code EXTRA10 at checkout.
For those who did not receive or stock up on sweats this season, Entireworld has relaunched “Underworld,” a special web store full of discounted archival merchandise, through January 3. Discounts are as deep as 70 percent off and the inventory features favorite best-sellers for men, women, and kids, including the below hoodie and sweaters as well as the cotton sweat sets that were a breakout WFH fit of 2020 (the sweat sets are seemingly going fast, though, as they’re only available in limited sizes). Note that anything purchased from the Underworld site is final sale.
Everlane’s Goodbye 2020 Event is live through December 30. It features discounts of up to 50 percent on more than 100 products the brand will stop producing in 2021. A few of our favorite deals are below, and you can head here for even more.
Free People’s the After Holiday Sale offers an additional 50 percent off all sale items. The retailer does not say when the sale ends, so you might not want to hesitate on anything you like. Final discounts will appear automatically once items are added to your cart and all discounted items are final sale.
Through January 3, Kate Spade is taking an additional 50 percent off already-on-sale bags, clothes, jewelry, wallets, and more. The full sale-on-sale price will appear when you use the code BYE2020 at checkout.
For its “Extra 30 Percent Off Sale,” Madewell has slashed prices on more than 1,000 jeans, sweaters, coats, shoes, accessories, and other products. There’s no end date listed, so again we suggest acting fast if you see a deal you like.

Our Place’s eight-in-one Always Pan is a mainstay in the kitchens of Strategist writers and other cool people. Of course, the best time to grab one of the pans is when they go on sale, like they are right now as part of the brand’s sitewide 20 percent off sale. Getting the discount (on any product) simply requires using the code BYE2020 at checkout. Our Place doesn’t indicate how long the sale will last, but it does note that most available colors of the pan won’t ship until February, with only one — Blue Salt — shipping in late January.
REI is slashing prices (by up to 50 percent) on lots of already-on-sale cold-weather gear, including jackets and boots, right now. It doesn’t note how long the sale lasts, though, so if you see something you like, we suggest not to dillydally.
