Thierry Mugler Womenswear to Return to the Runway in a Year?

Thierry Mugler shut down his couture division in 2003. It reopened in 2008 with ex–Paco Rabanne designer Rosemary Rodriguez at the helm. While Thierry Mugler went on to design Beyoncé’s costumes for her current tour, Rodriguez has staged a few menswear shows. She presented a small capsule collection of womenswear last summer, but hasn’t done a full-blown women’s Thierry Mugler runway show in Paris. However, this week she showed a collection of womenswear, including new and archived pieces, at Fashion Week in Moscow, finally giving Thierry Mugler womenswear a stage other than that of Beyoncé. As much as it thrills us every time we see Beyoncé step onto a stage in a sculpted leotard made of glitter with a giant bow on her ass, it is not enough ladies’ Mugler to keep us satisfied for long. Beyoncé wears the same thing every night. The world needs new outrageous Mugler womenswear — from whence the famous motorcycle corset came. The label has hinted at returning womenswear to the runway in October of next year at Paris Fashion Week. This would leave Rodriguez with the not-at-all-enviable task of figuring out how to out-diva Beyoncé with less than twelve months to prepare.
