Pilot season 2013 continues, as all the networks are scrambling to cast actors in their potential new fall shows. The Daily Show’s Jason Jones has been cast in the ABC multi-camera pilot, Divorce: A Love Story, Deadline reports. He’ll star opposite Andrea Anders (Better Off Ted) as a divorced couple who are awful together but even worse apart. In October, Jones sold a show that he wrote and would have starred in to Fox with Steve Carell producing, but Fox didn’t commission a pilot. The Divorce pilot won’t conflict with Jones’s Daily Show duties, but if ABC orders the show to series, he’ll leave The Daily Show just like Steve Carell did with The Office a million years ago.
In other pilot news, The Hollywood Reporter writes that Jenny Slate of SNL, Kroll Show, and Marcel the Shell fame has joined the cast of CBS’s Pulling, an adaptation of the hit British comedy of the same name. Slate will star alongside June Diane Raphael (Burning Love) and a yet-to-be-cast third actress as three women in their 30s living unconventional lives. Mandy Moore was going to play the other lead but departed from the project this weekend. Over at Fox, Martin Mull has joined the Seth MacFarlane-produced live-action series Dads, which has already received a six-episode order. The show follows two fathers who move in with their 30something sons and mess up their lives. Brenda Song, Tommy Dewey, and Peter Riegert also star. So, look for Dads and maybe one of these other shows to actually make it to your TV screen in six months.
