Elisha Cuthbert is the latest Happy Endings alum to land a starring role in a new comedy pilot. She’s been cast as the lead in One Big Happy, an NBC pilot executive produced by Ellen DeGeneres, Deadline reports. The show, created by former Ellen writer Liz Feldman, follows two best friends, a straight man and a lesbian woman, who agree to have a baby together via artificial insemination. Nick Zano, who played a recurring role on Happy Endings as Penny’s girlfriend, is playing the male lead on this show. NBC ordered the pilot back in October.
Since Happy Endings was canceled last May, this is the first pilot season that its cast members have been able to book new shows. Casey Wilson is starring in the pilot Marry Me for NBC (written by Happy Endings creator David Caspe), Eliza Coupe is starring in an untitled USA lawyer sitcom, and Zachary Knighton is starring in Fox’s Weird Loners, which was given a 6-episode straight-to-series order.
