When the Red Hot Chili Peppers released The Getaway earlier this summer, one middle-aged dude certainly didn’t buy the album: Fox News host Greg Gutfeld. During what must have been a particularly slow day at the cable-news network, Gutfeld took his audience into “Greg’s Music News†corner to watch Koko the Gorilla play bass with Flea. Instead of it being a cute fluff piece where we all admire the wonders of the animal kingdom, Gutfeld took it as an opportunity to rail against “the worst band†on the planet. “The ape is better than Anthony Kiedis,†Gutfeld insisted, despite Flea appearing in the video sans the rest of the Chilis. “By the way, the ape is 45, which is half the age of Anthony Kiedis. Red Hot Chili Peppers, poor man’s Faith No More, don’t ever forget it.â€
Seemingly unsatisfied with his first round of attacks, Gutfield went on yet another rant Wedensday afternoon about his hatred for the quartet, this time offering a faux apology and fresher burns. “Two days ago I said that Red Hot Chili Peppers were the worst band on the planet. I received a lot of flack from fans all over the world,†he said. “What I meant to say was the Red Hot Chili Peppers is the worst band in the universe. I’d like to apologize for that confusion … you have to love Mike Patton, you cannot love Anthony Kiedis.†In hopes of a ratings boost, CNN’s Jake Tapper will establish “Jake’s Cool Tunes Corner†and start a feud with Metallica next week.
