In a speech at the Center for Reproductive Rights’s 2016 gala on Tuesday, America’s resident Trump eviscerator John Oliver criticized Trump for his curious views on abortion; in particular, his assertion that “in the ninth month, you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby.”
According to Cosmopolitan’s Prachi Gupta, Oliver slammed Trump for showing “no real understanding of how abortions work, no clear understanding of the basic biology of women’s bodies, and a very poor sense of grammar, as well.”
“If you ask Donald Trump to draw a fallopian tube, I cannot imagine what you would get back, other than a child’s drawing of a cobra,” he went on.
Oliver also celebrated the Supreme Court’s recent decision to strike down a Texas law that would have cut off women’s abortion access, while emphasizing the ongoing struggle that is the country’s “whack-a-mole” fight against anti-abortion laws. “The thing with whack-a-mole is when you hit a mole, another one is coming back up,” said Oliver. “That is going to happen in Texas, and around the country, and you need to keep whacking.”
