The titular character of A. Lee Martinez’s novel, The Last Adventure of Constance Verity, has been saving the world her entire life, since she was born the Chosen One destined to battle supernatural forces. By the time she’s approaching 30, she’s pretty over the hero gig and just wants to have a normal life, which will of course be a tough transition to pull off. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Constance Verity is now being adapted into a feature film, and Awkwafina is set to star. The announcement means Awkwafina’s next few years are going to be even more slammed, since she’s currently lined up to star in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the Jumanji sequel, and she’s also reportedly going to voice Scuttle in the live-action The Little Mermaid. (Not to mention whatever goes on with the next Crazy Rich Asians.) Awkwafina is also coming off of Lulu Wang’s acclaimed The Farewell, so all in all, things are going pretty great!
