The Fox network bought another animated comedy to add to potentially add to its roster. Deadline reports that the network is developing a new animated show called Queen of Everything that will be executive produced by Zooey Deschanel, who stars on Fox’s New Girl, and producing partner Sophia Rossi. The comedy will be created by standup and TV writer Ali Waller (Jimmy Fallon, American Dad!) and is “a workplace comedy set in a modern fairytale world.†It follows an evil queen who after realizing her meanness is getting in the way of her being an effective leader, tries to change her ways. Deschanel and Rossi, who started working together at HelloGiggles, formed a TV production company a year ago and they have already sold shows to Fox and NBC prior to Queen of Everything.
Fox buying Queen of Everything comes during a bit of a transitional time in the network’s animated block. The Cleveland Show was canceled last year and American Dad! is moving to TBS in the fall after wrapping up its Fox run this season. Seth MacFarlane, who produced/co-created both aforementioned comedies, has another animated series, Bordertown, on the way at Fox. Flight of the Conchords’ Bret McKenzie is also developing an animated show for Fox, while the network dropped one of its new shows, Murder Police, last year before even airing a single episode. Fox ADHD, the network’s new Saturday late night animated block, premiered last year.
