Would you be able to explain how GIFs work, if someone asked? A good question. If your answer is “yes,” I’d advise you against being so openly cocky about your GIF knowledge in the future. Its unappealing both in its arrogance and its dorkiness. If your answer is “no,” then: Congratulations. You are similar to Leonardo DiCaprio in one way.
Leonardo DiCaprio, a 74-year-old (?) grandfather (?) of 13 beautiful grandchildren (?), spoke to the U.K.’s ITV about his web-famous Lady Gaga Golden Globes gaffe, which he does not understand even slightly. From Vanity Fair:
“It’s amazing what goes viral these days,” the actor remarked while being interviewed on the U.K.’s ITV on Thursday. Elaborating on his confusion, the 41-year-old said, “I guess I’m of a different generation now. I have no idea where this stuff comes from or how it’s even captured!”
Amazing! In Leonardo DiCaprio’s day, the “viral” events were much easier to understand: Someone’s got a new buggy but his horse is sick; the wheel fell off on someone’s old buggy and now look at it wobble; someone’s out there in the road, who even is he? — ah, he must’ve fallen out of a buggy on his way to the next town. Where do GIFs come from and how are they even captured? Don’t even try to explain. And don’t try to trick Leo into thinking there’s a “box” at home on which you might watch him at different stages in his life — he’s fallen for that one before, but never again.
DiCaprio does want you to know, though, that he and Lady Gaga are fine and they laughed about it, whatever it was:
“We were laughing about that afterwards,” DiCaprio told the ITV hosts. “I actually had no idea who was passing me or what was going on, but that was a funny little bit that went around. We were laughing about it at the after-party.”
