On the question of “Bernie or bust?†it appears at least one famous ardent Sanders supporter has opted for the latter. Susan Sarandon endorsed Green Party candidate Jill Stein for president Monday, penning an open letter on Stein’s site. In it, she explains that she has been waiting for Clinton’s stance on issues important to her — including foreign intervention, pot legalization, fracking, offshore drilling, the Dakota Access Pipeline, climate change, and Israel — to change, but has been disappointed. “It’s clear a third party is necessary and viable at this time. And this is the first step in accomplishing this end,†Sarandon writes. “Fear of Donald Trump is not enough for me to support Clinton, with her record of corruption. Now that Trump is self-destructing, I feel even those in swing states have the opportunity to vote their conscience.â€

Sarandon was a vocal Sanders supporter during the Democratic primary, which resulted in a terrible, no-good time at the Democratic National Convention. During the primaries, she even floated the idea that maybe it would be better to vote for Donald Trump instead of Clinton, because maybe that could at least “bring the revolution.†She later dismissed the possibility as just dorm talk on The Late Show, but up until this point, it wasn’t clear if she would actually throw her support behind Clinton, whom she called “the best Republican that’s out there.â€

Well, now we know that the possibility of a Trump presidency won’t allow Sarandon to vote against her conscience. Of course the big question now is: What does Debra Messing think?
