Even though we’re only two days in, it just seems wrong somehow that we’ve seen more of socialites and Sophia Bush than we have of Anna Wintour. Sure, we know that soon enough the Bob will be sitting in stony silence about six rows ahead of us, but it’s hard not to get impatient for that first glimpse of the coif that Suri Cruise is currently getting unfair credit for inventing.
Still, that’s why we give thanks for people like Arden Wohl, who showed up at Alexander Wang’s show on Saturday evening. As long as Arden, her crazy tights, and those signature headbands — on this day, mustard colored and bedecked in iridescent purple squares, respectively — are flitting about for our gawking pleasure, it’s hard to be too disappointed at a fall 2008 Fashion Week that’s so far low on Wintour.
Ally Hilfiger trotted out from backstage to join the gang, pausing to kiss bloggy man-socialite Derek Blasberg on the cheek. Also Wanging it up with us: Jaime King — who leapt up at the sight of lensman Terry Richardson, so they could be snapped together — Julia Reston-Roitfeld, and Genevieve Jones, a standout in orange. We hear soap starlet and Fashion Week junkie Leven Rambin was also there, a theory supported by pictures (found later online) of her and Hilfiger horsing around with thick-framed black glasses, but we didn’t actually spy her ourselves. If we had, we might’ve asked her what the giant “8” on her shirt meant. The number of outfits she’s worn today? The number of roles she’ll soon be forced to play on All My Children? Her shoe size? As long as it’s not some sort of psychic count of the number of shows we must endure before we drink in the sight of Anna fleeing the front row at top speed, we can live with the curiosity. —The Fug Girls
