If you want to rock Amy Winehouse’s beehive this summer, don’t go to Frédéric Fekkai. We asked the stylist himself at the French Institute’s “L’art de la coiffure” event last night how to create the coveted WiHo perma-hive. “I don’t want to know,” he said. “If I met Amy, I’d say, ‘Amy, I know what you’re trying to do, but let me give you another option.’ I think she has good hair.” Good, yes, but is it real? “I haven’t touched it, but I think it is real.” But Fekkai didn’t rule out hives altogether: “Everyone has something of themselves that defines their character. The bouffant is the best style for her character,” he said. “If I had to give it to someone, I wouldn’t know until I met them.” If you still want to have celebrity look-alike hair this summer, Fekkai prefers Natalie Portman’s, Cameron Diaz’s, Angelina Jolie’s, or Debra Messing’s. — Sharon Clott
