Diane Von Furstenberg, Post-Ski-Accident, Shot by Chuck Close

Just a few weeks before her scheduled date to be photographed by Chuck Close, Diane Von Furstenberg was in a skiing accident that left her with a broken nose and minor facial fractures. “When the accident happened, I said, ‘Oh no, my cheekbones! They’re my best asset,’” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “But you know, everybody thinks you’ve just been beaten up. I went to the ER and I said, ‘Ski accident,’ and they said, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah.’” So she went to the photo shoot anyway, proclaiming, “I gave up on my looks a long time ago.”
