Several blogs expressed outrage today over an Italian Vogue web feature titled “Slave Earrings,” which described oversize hoops thus: “If the name brings to the mind the decorative traditions of the women of colour who were brought to the southern Unites States [sic] during the late 18th century, the latest interpretation is pure freedom. ” In a quick attempt to smooth things over, the magazine has since changed the title to “Ethnic earrings.” [Vogue.it]
