Now that the fashion world has had a few days to digest Kanye West’s Paris debut — which, despite its disappointing content, was still the most hyped show of the week, if not the entire season — Eric Wilson aptly appraises its fallout in today’s Times. His conclusion? The clothes were pretty awful, but not so bad that Kanye’s fashion career could be pronounced dead on arrival (or, we might add, to keep Anna Dello Russo from borrowing an outfit posthaste). Per Wilson’s interviews, here are fashion folks’ reactions:
Carine Roitfeld: “I’m sure he knows what he did wrong and what he did right … He tried hard, and he wants to learn.”
Joe Zee: “If you get it all right on the first shot, where do you go from there?”
Long Nguyen: “There are wishes, and there are realities … I feel bad, actually, that there wasn’t anything to grab on to. But you can’t just dump some fox fur on a runway and call it luxury.”
Anna Wintour: “Ask someone else.”
