Tommy Hilfiger on acquiring the rights to Karl Lagerfeld’s brand: “I was doing a photo shoot in Paris, and he was the photographer. The next day he invited me to his home for lunch. I told him we were thinking about maybe acquiring new brands. He said, ‘Why don’t you buy my brand?’ I said, ‘OK.’ We consummated the deal in less than 30 days…” [WWD]

• The 33rd annual Common Wealth Awards of Distinguished Service honor Kenneth Cole tonight, along with Madeleine K. Albright, Wolf Blitzer, and Judith Jamison. The four recipients will share the $300,000 award. [WWD]

• The Olsen’s JCPenney diffusion line, Olsenboye, just debuted its first collection of eyewear. [SheFinds]

Julia Nobis walked in 73 shows during fashion month — reportedly more than any other model. Zuzanna Bijoch came in second place with a total of 65 shows. [Modelinia]

• Macy’s plans to continue growing its ‘Fashion Incubator’ program nationally. The scheme provides a select group of designers with work space and guidance; it started in Chicago in 2008, grew to Macy’s Philadelphia a few weeks ago, and will open at Macy’s San Francisco flagship by the end of this month. Band of Outsiders will expand its made-to-measure program to Asia, with custom suits now available at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong as well as select Barneys New York stores. [WWD]
