SKIN

Charlize Theron on getting older: “I see my face and my body changing, and they’re all changes I’m OK with. Part of me understands I may not be in front of the camera forever, and maybe not just because of age, but because of me. I wouldn’t have started my own production company if I didn’t feel that way.” [InStyle via NYP]

The FDA will give sunscreen manufacturers an additional six months to put its new labeling changes into place, pushing back the deadline from June to December. And smaller companies will have until December of next year. [Time]

Actress and Neutrogena spokesperson Gabrielle Union came out swinging against tanning for Skin Cancer Awareness Month: “It’s all fun and games until you have skin cancer. [A Gym, Tan, Laundry lifestyle] only goes so far until you have to go to skin cancer treatments — and the moles start changing and the cute Cindy Crawford ones become Melanoma. And it’s not as cute as you thought, and is it really worth it at the end of the day?” [Beauty High]

A recent study by Massachusetts General Hospital found that more women are getting pimples than ever before, with clinical acne affecting 45 percent of women ages 21 to 30, 26 percent of women ages 31 to 40, and 12 percent of women ages 41 to 50. [NYT]

MAKEUP

Leelee Sobieski on her daughter and makeup: “She watches me put on my makeup. It freaks me out a bit as I’m not sure what values that passes on to her as she is only 2 1/4. She … has an SPF lip balm that looks like a lipstick that her great-grandma Shirley gave to her. She likes to put it on in the morning sometimes. A lot of little girls like to play dress up and [my daughter] does too.” [T Magazine]

FRAGRANCE

Celebrity hairstylist Serge Normant, who works with Sarah Jessica Parker and Julia Roberts, is moving into the fragrance market with a debut scent called Avah. He said the idea “felt a little ambitious, but I thought, designers do it; why can’t I?” [Beauty High]

HAIR

An unknown sender from France mailed at least four packages containing a hairdryer or hair clippers, cash, and a note that read, “Thanks for being a true friend” to residents on the South Island of New Zealand. [AP via Salon]
