Beauty First Look: The Effortful Effortless Look of Proenza Schouler Resort 2013

The classic Proenza Schouler girl is the queen of the no-makeup makeup thing; you know, bedhead hair that’s somehow just perfectly tousled, a flawless complexion with a post-romp-in-the-sheets glow. Well, makeup artist Daniel Martin, who created the look for the brand’s recently shot 2013 resort look book, was game to pass along his secrets on how to master the delicate art of nothing-and-everything maquillage (bonus: the vacation version!). Click through to find out how “effortless” can equate to an arsenal of eight products and $510.

“I layer these three products together before applying foundation to keep the skin from looking too made-up.”

From left: Tatcha Radiant Deep Brightening Serum, $150, Barneys; Lancome Bienfait Aqual Vital, $45, Lancome; Sk-II Facial Treatment Essence, $155, SK-II.

“I love using these concealer pens all over the face to neutralize any uneven skin tone and to also brighten up the eyes.”

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat, $40, YSL

“To keep from looking too polished, I curled the lashes to open up the eyes and didn’t use mascara. It’s a great trick on the days you don’t want to wear makeup!”

Lancome Le Curler Eyelash Curler, $23, Lancome.

“One great trick to keeping the face neutral and doing a no-makeup makeup look is use the same color for eyes and cheek. These are my suggest colors for this trick.”

NARS Zen blush, $28, Nars and Lancome Blush Subtil in Cappucine, $29.50, Lancome

“I love the Chanel balm because it adds great sheen to the lips without looking too wet.”

Chanel Rouge Coco Baume Hydrating Conditioning Lip Balm, $32.50, Chanel
