Handsome artist Nate Lowman is just as well known for his pop-culture-skewering bullet holes and smiley faces as he is for squiring Mary-Kate Olsen around town in the mid-to-late-aughts. For us, as Art Basel comes to an end, he reminds us of the kind of guy from high school that would one day end up cool — even as he flew under the radar. The guy who doesn’t give a shit is a bit too cool for school and remains the irresistible bad boy. He’s not everyone’s taste, sure. But a sexy artist: Now, that’s truly a thing of beauty.
