Dresses over pants were a contentious trend last season, but it seems the zeitgeist has shifted for fall 2013. Blouses, shirts, and skirts with long trains have been a refreshing departure from boring old normal shirts. At Jason Wu, a pleated bustier trailed polka-dotted silk behind slim black trousers; Vera Wang presented a modest floral blouse, tucked into matching silk trousers and pulling full yards of fabric behind; and Naeem Khan went slightly more mainstream with a dramatic taffeta skirt over simple black trousers.
