When Zooey Deschanel appeared on the Met Gala’s red carpet on Monday evening, she slicked her bangs to one side — displaying her forehead for once — and caused people to do a double take. “How is that even Zooey?” a Cut staffer wondered aloud. “That cannot be her.” Without her famous blunt bangs, one of the most popular “manic pixie dream girls” of our time looked like a different human. But it appears the New Girl actress just might be headed in the fringeless-forehead direction. Yesterday, she was spotted visiting The Late Show with David Letterman in her typically twee style, outfitted in a navy dress with a puffy tulle skirt, matching ballet flats, and a cream cardigan. But the most noticeable part of her look were those bangs — split directly in the center, with a triangular patch of forehead peering out. Center-parted bangs tend to only mean one thing: They’re on their way out.
