A bodysuit is usually the one-off piece you snap up for a creative Halloween costume as Lady Gaga or Beyoncé before promptly throwing it out the day after. But before you disregard that body-hugging leotard, take a look at one of our favorite street-style inspirations, Anne-Catherine Frey, who expertly styles one for everyday wear.
In this photo, Frey chose the strange nude Maison Martin Margiela for H&M bodysuit with a trompe l’oeil bra, which plays up the avant-garde-ness, then she added a strong-shouldered, draped blazer. A vintage-looking brooch pinned at the bottom of one lapel adds a touch of femininity. While mimicking her style might garner you weird glances outside Fashion Week, instead try a neutral bodysuit in black, nude, or gray for a sleek alternative to your standard button-down or tee. A classic blazer with a less defined shoulder softens the overall effect, while a pretty, sparkly brooch could be mistaken for an antique find. As for bottoms, Frey chose to wear a pair of wide-legged red trousers, which serve as a nice balance to such a tight-fitting top. Consider the combination an artistic take on the tried-and-true pantsuit. Click ahead to see three interpretations of the look at different price ranges.
