Texas State Representative Giovanni Capriglione wants Wendy Davis to pay for what she’s done. Kind of like how all Texas women (but especially the poor ones) should be punished for having sex by carrying their unplanned pregnancies to term, except Capriglione wants her to pay for the filibuster that will ultimately cost the taxpayers $2.4 million.
I am upset at the cost. I think we need to remember why we are having this extra special session. One state senator, in an effort to capture national attention, forced this special session. I firmly believe that Sen. Wendy Davis should reimburse the taxpayers for the entire cost of the second special session. I am sure that she has raised enough money at her Washington, D.C., fundraiser to cover the cost.
In response, Davis reminded the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (h/t ThinkProgress) it takes two to tango. Governor Rick Perry called this special legislative session in the first place.
