For Texas senator Ted Cruz’s faux filibuster of a bill to defund Obamacare Tuesday evening, he ditched his signature black ostrich-skin cowboy boots — his so-called “argument boots.” “I took the coward’s way out,” Cruz said on the Senate floor. On the advice of his BFF Rand Paul, Cruz explained, he instead opted for a pair of comfortably ugly black walking shoes, the sort “the senior senator from Utah, Orrin Hatch, wears on a regular basis.” (Oooh, burn.)
