After showing her latest collection at London Fashion Week, Dame Vivienne Westwood ended with a PSA to all the consumers out there. “Buy less. Choose well. Make it last. Quality, not quantity. Everybody’s buying far too many clothes,” she said in an interview with the Telegraph. Pretty solid advice, and she could have stopped there. Instead, Westwood, who knows she’s lucky because she can just “take things and borrow them” and have loads of clothes without financial risk, continued to say that poor people have to be especially careful. “It doesn’t mean therefore you have to just buy anything cheap. Instead of buying six things, buy one thing that you really like. Don’t keep buying just for the sake of it,” she instructed. She suggests that we all invest in the world, instead, which ultimately sounds more expensive.
