Between the tree decorating, present wrapping, and taking in a bit of culture, it’s about time for a drink. Hot chocolate, eggnog, and punch are all great — but the real winner of the season is a sparkly flute of Champagne. In this photo from 1954, the lovely twin stars from Paris’s famed Lido Nightclub, Ellen and Alice Kessler, hold a massive bottle of bubbly in honor of “Champagne Week.” With their matching one-shoulder taffeta gowns and exaggerated eyebrows, the twins look ready to knock back a few glasses themselves.
