The Met has decided to rechristen its Costume Institute after the most important fashion person of our time, Anna Wintour. The Vogue editor-in-chief has been a trustee for fifteen years and is, of course, partially responsible for one of the biggest fashion spectacles of the year, the Costume Institute Gala.

When the Anna Wintour Costume Center opens its doors May 8, it will be bright, shiny, and new thanks to a $40-million renovation, for which Wintour helped fundraise. All the better to see Charles James’s life with. According to the Times, the revamped space will include “a newly designed 4,200-square-foot main gallery; an updated costume conservation laboratory; and expanded study and storage facilities.” Looks like a promising future for the Anna Wintour Costume Center for Fashion People Who Can’t Read Good and Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too.
