For an upcoming collection for Moda Operandi, notorious vintage lovers Karen Elson and Liz Goldwyn opened their personal closets to an array of American designers. Participating designers — including Francisco Costa, Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, Olivier Theyskens, Jason Wu, and Eddie Borgo — selected pieces from Karen and Liz’s wardrobes, which they then reworked to create one-of-a-kind designs. The resulting Vintage Vanguard collection ranges from a bright yellow Atelier Swarovski crystal-adorned jumper by Suno to a butterfly-print sundress from Creatures of the Wind, and features a whole lot of lace. Proceeds from the customized pieces, which will go on sale on Moda Operandi on January 6, will benefit Dress for Success, an international not-for-profit that provides career development tools and professional attire to disadvantaged women.
