Hayden Panettiere became our new hero when she showed up at the Golden Globes on Sunday in a Tom Ford dress that had been purchased from a store rather than borrowed from the designer. It clearly came as a surprise to Ford and his team – who had only officially dressed Naomi Watts for the occasion.
But Ford didn’t let the moment slip him by without a perfectly appropriate response. Yesterday, he sent Panettiere white roses with a gracious note: “Dear Hayden, You Looked Beautiful Last Night. Thank You For Your Kind Words. Much Love, Tom.”
“Kind words,” we assume, refers to her statement that she would “would wear a plastic bag if it was designed by him.” Panettiere smartly ran the flowers through the Inkwell filter, so they would even more perfectly fit his rigid aesthetic.
