June Ambrose’s Fashion Week Diary, Day 6

Photo: Bek Andersen

On day six of New York Fashion week, we find our diarist June Ambrose the walking incarnate of The Incredibles meets Edith Head. For her look today, Ambrose says she was inspired by Edna, a character in the film based on Head, who, incidentally, is one of her real-life heroes. (And a little bit of inspiration from the “supadupaflies” of Missy Elliott’s videos thrown in.) “All of us designers and stylists,” Ambrose says, “have superpowers. We make people feel, we make people come alive, based on experience. It’s an amazing gift to have. I don’t take it for granted.”

Here’s her day six look:

Hat: June Ambrose Design for HSN. “The hat is from the fall collection. It’ll be available in faux, not fur, though mine is fur.”

Sunglasses: Edna, From June Ambrose Eyewear. “The ones I have on today I named after Edna from The Incredibles. My collection is for the fierce and fearless woman who wants to be seen, but who wants blinders. She’s a mom who didn’t get any sleep, or that young girl who drank a little too much last night.”
