For Stuart Vevers’s debut collection as the creative director of Coach, the Englishman imagined a New York girl on a tour of America, “picking up bits and pieces on the way”: suburban subdivisions, convenience stores, hunting ranges in places far from either sea. How would instances of American iconography and workwear (like this classic houndstooth) look in the big city? In a nice stealthy move, Vevers wowed with outerwear—everyone was waiting for the bags, because it’s Coach, after all, but then there were all these really wonderful coats.
Coach, $1,495 at 79 Fifth Ave.
