In what might be the year’s most tepid burgeoning rap feud, Kelly Cutrone told the New York Daily News that “I don’t think there’s one person who really works in the fashion industry who gives a flying f— about Kanye West.” (But you should hear the great things he says about you guys!) The publicity maven is not even impressed by his closetful of Givenchy, even taking the time to drop some Fashion History on us. “There’s a movie called Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Givenchy is a good brand, but is it cutting edge? No. It’s a gazillion-year-old luxury brand from Europe.”
Cutrone added, “Do I think that Hamish Bowles wakes up in the morning, calls André Leon Talley and says, ‘Did you see those pants that Kanye was rocking on SNL?’ No.” Um, yes, please let us believe they had that exact conversation. More likely, they probably talk about dinner caftans and the third metric. But let us have this fantasy!
Sounds like Cutrone is not partial to Kanye’s Hamptons spouse either. “I mean, most people who watch the Kardashians’ [reality show] can’t afford Givenchy. I don’t mean to be mean,” she said. “Are [counterfeiters] on Canal St. benefiting from it? Probably, but that’s not the fashion world.” Come on, has she seen the famous cerulean speech from The Devil Wears Prada?
