As is his wont, Kanye West does not operate according to a human understanding of time, a fact that can be both exciting and infuriating. While we peel off our fingernail polish in anticipation of the album that we’ve been promised for more than half a year, Yeezus had something else up his sleevesus this entire time: a surprise Kanye West x Adidas Originals presentation at New York Fashion Week.
The musician, designer, and self-appointed god announced Friday via Evite that he will present his Yeezy Season Two show on September 16 at noon during NYFW. His wife and muse, Kim Kardashian, had teased the show on Instagram, but it was still a shock to the fashion calendar. And because the presentation was previously unannounced, some designers are not pleased.
Anne Bowen, whose show was to occur at the same time as the Yeezy x Adidas show, told Women’s Wear Daily that Kanye’s decision to surprise-present is “not ethical” because he is aware that he is a “media sensation.” West has not responded to this accusation. Bowen has moved her show to the following day.
Yeezy Season Two will show at the Skylight Modern at 537 West 27th Street. The question is, who among his entourage will be in the show, and who will be in the FROW?
