University of California, Berkeley astronomy professor Geoff Marcy was forced to resign in October after allegations of sexual assault were made by a number of his students. Now, documents obtained by the San Jose Mercury News prove that Marcy can totally explain all that.

The claim: Marcy attempted to grind with one of his students on a dance floor.

Marcy’s explanation: “I don’t dance,” Marcy told the University of California investigator, according to the Mercury News. “I had no idea what she was doing. I was standing in the corner like a high school kid at a dance by myself.”

The claim: Marcy discussed one of his past sexual relationships with a student.

Marcy’s explanation:  “I might have been offering a touchstone in my life to share, based on what the undergraduate was sharing,” Marcy said.

The claim: Marcy gave a former student an unsolicited neck massage.

Marcy’s explanation: “It’s possible that my hand touched her neck and stayed there for a few moments in a gesture of solidarity and support,” clarifies Marcy.

I don’t know about you guys but these seem pretty believable to me.
