
In a recent interview with Broadly, fallen reality-TV stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag talked about their time on MTV’s The Hills. The most noteworthy moment came when Pratt made the following statement:
Needless to say, no one liked that Pratt compared the cancellation of The Hills, a successful teen reality show, to 9/11, a national tragedy. To his credit, Pratt has now tweeted a candid five-party apology for saying that the end of The Hills, which is perhaps most famous for giving the world this GIF, was in any way similar to 9/11, which is perhaps most famous for killing thousands of people and arguably launching more than one never-ceasing war.
There is a lesson to be learned here. If you ever find yourself accidentally, in print, comparing the cancellation of The Hills to 9/11
