Not to be outdone by the over-the-top couture concoctions we saw in Paris this week, Fendi took to Rome’s iconic Trevi Fountain for a very Italian high-fashion frolic that it dubbed “Alta Moda Roma.” The event was a celebration of the house’s founding 90 years ago in the Eternal City.

The cast of top models, including Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, got to look like they were walking on water, via a clear glass runway that stretched over the site.

The gimmick necessitated some hard posing on the part of Jenner and Molly Bair pre-show, of course.

Kate Hudson was in attendance, presumably channeling her Roman reporter character from Nine.

The show had a Christmas-in-July feeling, with models working the heavy fur pieces in the heat.

Hairstylist Ivan Massetti came up with romantic updos and half-up styles for the models.

And since the collection was themed around “Legends and Fairy Tales,” Karl Lagerfeld included a variety of folkloric touches, like forest scenes stitched intricately onto coats and crafty, laser-cut accents.

Finally, this being Rome, there was pizza, not to mention a themed photo op.
