Several tabloids confirmed yesterday afternoon that Taylor Swift and her latest celebrity conquest, Tom Hiddleston, have broken up after three highly publicized months together. Everyone is scrambling to figure out what went wrong there, but now Swift’s last “boyfriend” — Calvin Harris, a DJ — is speaking up to remind everyone about his breakup with Swift, which is unfortunately old news, pal.
Harris, who publicly dated Swift for a little over a year, before she got together with Hiddleston, is on this month’s cover of British GQ. The magazine has yet to release the full interview with Harris online, but they’re teasing the profile with some quotes from Harris about Swift. Here’s what he had to say about the breakup:
“It’s very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly. The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicised than the relationship itself. When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus. She respected my feelings in that sense. I’m not good at being a celebrity…But when it ended, all hell broke loose. Now I see that Twitter thing as a result of me succumbing to pressure. It took me a minute to realise that none of that matters. I’m a positive guy…For both of us it was the wrong situation. It clearly wasn’t right, so it ended, but all of the stuff that happened afterwards…”
The “Twitter thing” he refers to is the time he went on a sort-of rant about his previously secret collaboration with Swift on his song “This Is What You Came For.”
