Proenza Schouler’s beauty look today was all ears. “I’m letting [makeup artist] Diane [Kendal] have all the glory today,” laughed hairstylist Anthony Turner for Bumble and Bumble backstage. A few lucky models got half-painted yellow or white ears, extending from the tragus to the lobe, from which dangled geometric, shoulder-grazing earrings.
Kendal mixed a combination of MAC Chromacake with water for the color but didn’t ear-dip the models until just before the show, coordinating the ear paint color with each look. True to his word, Turner created a low-key, natural-hair look that played up each girl’s individuality, and simply tucked the hair behind the ears (finally, a hair look you can do at home). The ear makeup stood out on the runway, looking interesting but not clownish — a subtle but pretty way to get an earful.
