At this year’s Golden Globes, Bryce Dallas Howard wore a Jenny Packham dress she purchased off-the-rack at Neiman Marcus, telling People at the time, “When you’re not ‘sample’ size, or when you don’t have a direct relationship with a designer … those types of size 6 dresses just aren’t that available that much.”
It was a refreshing admission, given that the fashion industry is less than open about its reliance on sample sizes. And at last night’s Critics’ Choice Awards, Howard continued her streak, wearing a Topshop dress that cost a frugal-for-Hollywood $240 (again, per People). The mustard-hued gown was available online at Nordstrom, but has since sold out, suggesting Howard has already inspired some fashionable imitators.
