Linda Cardellini has done it all: Freaks and Geeks, Scooby Doo, Mad Men, Avengers, and most recently, Netflix’s Dead to Me. This month, she’s the Cut’s cover woman in a colorful fashion spread photographed by Jacq Harriet.
On the cover, Cardellini gazes into the camera lens with an air of cool confidence in a bright green latex puff-sleeved dress by Christopher Kane. “Perverse, yes. Maybe a little too extreme to suggest to Linda Cardellini? Perhaps,” said fashion director Rebecca Ramsey. “But when we showed it to her, she loved it, and we all knew it would look great cutting into the Santa Monica beach backdrop.”
The bold looks don’t stop there. In the full profile of Cardellini (coming later this month), Ramsey knotted the actress up in a mixture of colorful sweaters and skirts to create a living fashion sculpture. Clothes can sometimes wear a person, but Cardellini owned hers, letting herself shine through Harriet’s eye. “I really wanted to photograph Linda in a position of strength since so many of her characters have such a sense of courage,” Harriet told the Cut. “I wanted to explore that as it related to her own real-life personality.” Below, check out behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot.
