Céline Dion’s Favorite Meal Is Peanut Butter

Céline Dion, our greatest voyager of the human heart, has to my immense pleasure revealed that she feels about peanut butter approximately what I feel about the actor Paul Giamatti: I would roll around in a vat of that.

In a recent interview with Gayle King of CBS News, the “Power of Love” singer was asked a battery of deceptively simple questions like, “What’s your favorite song on your playlist that’s not yours?… Your favorite movie? … What’s your favorite meal?” These are, of course, impossible questions. How are you not gonna lie and just say the first thing that pops into your head? However, when asked about her favorite meal, Dion’s answer seemed to shoot straight from her soul like a rocket leaving this world.

“It’s not really a meal, it’s different things,” Dion begins. “I love peanut butter so bad.” King tries to accept this answer and move on, but no. Dion breaks into a spontaneous rendition of “Peanut Butter Jelly Time,” in a manner I can only describe as “passionate about her craft.” Then she snaps back into serious interviewee mode and finishes the thought: “But meal would be like, probably baba ghanoush, hummus, Lebanese food.”

We are left with no doubt that this brilliant weirdo loves peanut butter, and can only wonder how she consumes it. To my mind, the best way to eat peanut butter is to spread it on top of several Eggo mini waffles and go to town on the sticky little canapés as if they were tea sandwiches, but as has been already established, I have some acquired tastes. When it comes to peanut butter, we’re all little freaks.
