Imagine Eating 10,000 Calories of Tic Tacs in One Day

The diets of large men are endlessly fascinating. When in acting school, notable large man Adam Driver ate an entire chicken for lunch every day for four years. (He eventually stopped because “it got tiring.”) Or remember when the Rock gave an interview about a typical day of eating, which included nearly two and a half pounds of cod a day — which would amount to 821 pounds of cod per year? To our delight, another larger than average man has volunteered a truly remarkable detail about his eating habits: professional wrestler and Daddy’s Home 2 star, John Cena.

In a recent interview with Kelly Clarkson, Cena confesses that he used to reach for Tic Tacs maybe a little more than he should, in an attempt to ward off body odor and calm himself before wrestling matches. “I was up to, like, three boxes a day,” he says of his Tic Tac consumption. “Yeah, it’s pretty much 10,000 calories of straight sugar.”

I’m sorry … what? Ten thousand calories of Tic Tacs? Is that even possible? Using our refined math skills, we calculated how many boxes Cena would have to eat in one day to hit 10,000 calories, which is 161, or a little over 6,100 Tic Tacs a day. This seems implausible. And Cena said he ate more like three boxes a day. But that’s still … a lot. Imagine the state of his tongue even after downing just one box: numb, raw, and coated in a nauseating minty residue.

Anyway, he has since “[weaned himself] off of them,” which seems like a healthy and responsible decision. As he told the Cut in 2017, when it comes to his eating habits, he “[tries] to make as many good choices as [he] can.” Does this mean he saves Tic Tacs for his cheat days?
