Meghan Markle, aside from being a duchess in absentia, is an impressive individual in her own right who perhaps will begin exercising her skill set a bit more now that she is transitioning to a life with her husband-prince in Canada. She’s (reportedly) a voiceover artist, she’s a talented actress, and she’s weirdly good at calligraphy. Also, she can drive!

The Duchess of Sussex proved as much on Sunday when she was seen “driving herself” around Canada, according to sources who spoke to Us Weekly. Markle reportedly traveled from London to Vancouver Island on Friday and was spotted running errands all over town this weekend. Markle “went to a drugstore parking lot,” says in “insider,” who was apparently well-placed inside a drugstore parking lot.

Hard to believe it was only last week that Markle and Prince Harry announced their plans to split their time between North America and the U.K. In an official statement the couple explained, “We have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent.” There was some speculation as to which North American country the couple would be dabbling in — Markle is from Los Angeles after all — but in recent days it’s emerged that they’re going with Canada.

Good on Meghan for getting in the driver’s seat. This was without a doubt the Ford v. Ferrari of errand runs, in that nobody I know saw it but I’m just gonna assume it was nice and mundane.
