It takes a special kind of talent to get the fashion community talking, but Christopher John Rogers is doing just that. On Saturday evening, the 26-year-old designer presented his third collection to a packed house at Spring Studios during New York Fashion Week, bringing together an eclectic mix of old-guard fashion editors, drag queens, and Brooklyn creatives. That’s part of the magic behind Rogers: He has the ability to appeal to a diverse crew of fashion enthusiasts who want to see big ideas and joy on the runways again. Since creating his eponymous label only a few years ago, Rogers has already hit many of the milestones young designers dream of, bagging a CFDA award in 2019 and dressing high-profile players like Michelle Obama and Rihanna.

Now, with the help of Net-a-Porter, Christopher John Rogers is bringing his creations to the masses. His brand is among the four budding labels inducted into Net-a-Porter’s Vanguard mentorship program, which aims to help promising new designers develop and sustain their business. The backing of a global e-commerce platform like Net-a-Porter can be an invaluable tool for an emerging designer, allowing their collections to be seen by a large consumer base. Rounding out this season of the new Vanguard class is French separates label Gauchere, contemporary handbag line S.Joon, and Ionnes, a brand for the edgy downtown crowd.
