New York Fashion Week continues on, and with it a diverse range of fashionable attendees. Scroll down to see 19 fashion people — stylists, writers, influencers, and designers — explain how they decided what to wear to the shows.

The shoes are Converse, the skirt was thrifted, the tops are Uniqlo, and the jacket is from Bacon Clothing. I was partly styled by Kim Mesches today.”

Brandon Foster, Stylist, Creative Director, Model, and Writer, 20-ish
“My coat, blouse, and skirt are by Lizzy Gee, pants by Litkovskaya, shoes Nike Sacai Blazer, bag from MBH. I don’t see gender, I just see fashion and if I love myself and the way I feel while wearing a garment, then I flow in that direction with no looking back in mind. My inspiration: this magical city, my ancestors that have paved the way for me to freely express my individuality, and my emotions that always speak truth to my identity.”

Millicent Dunstan, Fashion Designer and Model, 23
“My partner Ben Lucas Jones and I have a sustainable brand together called Mindblown, which is what I’m wearing. My pants and jacket are fully repurposed from scraps of fabric that I collected and patched together. I am most inspired by subcultural identity and sustainability. I love clothing that is used or transformed from something that once was. I love the challenge that comes with wearing nothing new — it makes you unique.”

Madeline Swanson, Accessories Editor at Vogue, 28
“I’m wearing an Earl Grey coat, Nikki Chasin dress, Prabal Gurung turtleneck, Staud handbag, Miista boots, and a hat from ASOS. The best outfits are born from experimentation. You can churn out the most interesting looks by playing around with unexpected silhouette pairings, old and new pieces, and funky small accessories. I am super inspired by history and costume design throughout the ages, specifically in American film. My winter wardrobe is based on everything from A Love Story to Clueless to Little Women.”

Esther Faciane, Photo Editor at Office Magazine, 25
“I am wearing all vintage with Golf Le Fleur Converse, a Dior saddle bag, and Celine sunglasses. I believe in wearing anything that makes me feel good and look good. I’ve gained a little bit of weight recently and I’m trying to figure out my style again, to be completely honest. I’m inspired by people in NYC. I love eyeing people’s looks on the street. That always makes me want to dress better.”

Michelle Palacios Huynh, Retail and Consumer Sciences Major Student, 22
“The upper half of my outfit is completely thrifted. My skirt is from Stussy and my shoes are a collaboration between Nike and Martine Rose. Tights are unknown. My claws were done by my boyfriend’s dad at the rad Tucson based SuperNail and my rings are from a crystal store. My style philosophy is that you simply cannot go wrong with thrifted and vintage pieces. I’m inspired by grandmas; they truly serve looks. Just pay attention. You’ll see.”

Sara Radin, Writer and Editor, 30
“I’m wearing a vintage pea coat from Mirth Vintage in Greenpoint, a zebra print top by Nikki Chasin, a tie-dyed turtleneck by Olivia Horan who runs For Good Luck, a skirt from L Train Vintage, tights that were hand painted by Alexa Stark, a purple bag by Alfeya Valrina, hair clips from Rat Boi — she makes amazing upcycled scrunchies & we actually did a collab together — and a ring by an artist whose brand is called Blob. I tend to dress according to my mood. I wear a lot of color and kitschy details. It’s kindergarten-meets-grandmother chic. This morning I was writing a review of the Rui Zhou show for Nowfashion and threw this look together in a few minutes — luckily it worked. I don’t have any specific style references but I wear mostly vintage and pieces by emerging designers, often ones I’m friends with or have written about.”

Quinn McNeill, Sound Artist and Digital Media Producer, 24
“I’m wearing items I’ve collected from people I love. My jeans are from my mom’s early 20s, the dress is a gift from a friend, and the coat is vintage with updated buttons. I like to dress around my accessories. I knew I wanted to wear my favorite jewelry from Thingamajig and planned the rest of my outfit around those colors, then accessorized on top of that with clips.”

Morgan Griffin, Dancer and Employee at Alyx Studio, 29
“I’m wearing a Noah blazer, GAP hoodie, ALYX jeans, Prada shoes and bag, coffee from Dimes Times. Getting dressed is just like playing dress up. Wear what you love and be whoever you want to be every day! I’m inspired by my childhood, Connecticut, figure skating, Pride and Prejudice, dads, and detectives.”

I think style and fashion are meant to be fun and meant to be worn. I never want to feel like my clothes are too precious to wear. I love Chloë Sevigny’s and Megan Rapinoe’s style.”
