Hollywood’s Laura Harrier on Her Isolation Beauty Routine

Before her breakout role in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Laura Harrier had already found success modeling for brands including Garnier, Steve Madden, and Urban Outfitters. She was also the Cut’s cover star in July of that year, just weeks before Marvel would launch her into a new stratosphere of celebrity. Today she’s stuck at home like the rest of us, but still working, promoting her new Netflix miniseries, Hollywood.

During an Instagram Live chat with Cut beauty editor at large Jane Larkworthy, Laura opened up about her new home, the activities keeping her sane during isolation, and her beauty routine.

Jane Larkworthy: Is it true that you’re into clean beauty?

Laura Harrier: I am into clean beauty, but I can’t say that I only do clean beauty.

Jane: I always say I’m “selectively into clean beauty.”

Laura: That’s a good way to put it. I’m selectively clean. Turning 30 I was like, “I do need to be doing more than just putting honey on my face,” honestly.

Jane: Is that what you were doing?

Laura: That’s what I did for a while and it worked! Manuka honey makes a really awesome mask. It’s antibacterial, so if I’m breaking out I’ll put on a Manuka honey face mask and get in the bath. It drips everywhere — you don’t want to do that when you’re sitting on the couch.

Jane: And now? What are your top three skin-care products?

Laura: Shani Darden does my facials, and she came out with a line of products that are really awesome. I use her Texture Reform, as well as her cleanser. The iS Clinical Reparative Moisture Emulsion is awesome. And then I really love the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta peel pads. I get hormonal breakouts, and it smooths everything over. But I use the sensitive-skin ones, because the other ones are really intense. I’ll alternate that and Shawnee’s retinol every other night.

Jane: What fragrance do you wear?

Laura: A good friend of mine went to Morocco and brought back this orange blossom oil that’s the best-smelling thing ever. I just use that. I had some a few years ago that she gave me and it was in a tiny bottle that I used all up. People would chase me down the street asking what I was wearing. When she went back she got me a big one. Hopefully I’m stocked up for a little bit.

Jane: And it’s unique. It’s yours alone.

Laura: Yeah. Or if I’m in Morocco, I’ll smell like a lot of other people.
