DJ and record producer Diplo confirmed on Monday that he is the father of model Jevon King’s newborn boy, Pace — or, as Diplo put it, he has “had an entire ass baby.”
The 30-year-old former Miss Universe contestant (she represented Trinidad and Tobago in 2014) announced she was expecting her first child in October and occasionally documented the pregnancy on social media, but refrained from disclosing the father’s identity even after announcing the birth of her son on March 20. (In his profile for the Cut from December, Diplo had said he “isn’t really dating.”)
Diplo revealed he is Pace’s father in a Mother’s Day Instagram post in which he posted three images: one of himself and his mother, one of his ex Kathryn Lockhart and their two sons, and one of King cradling Pace in her arms. He captioned the post, “The three strongest mothers in the world … I’m still a work in progress but you have given three perfect beautiful boys. I love you all til the moon and back.”
The next day he posted a short video of Pace, presumably one that King sent him, because he hasn’t met his baby in person yet. “So I had an entire ass baby during quarantine,” the post begins. “I was hesitant to post him because not only does he already had a better haircut than me. But also because I haven’t met him yet since we are separated by a million miles and closed borders.”
King posted an Instagram tribute to the baby on Mother’s Day as well: a photo of her cradling Pace with the caption, “In the midst of all this chaos you’ve been my peace,” and a subsequent close-up shot of the infant, who is very, very cute.
