“Today I was racially profiled by a security guard whilst entering my work place,” wrote British Vogue Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful in a post on social media, shared yesterday.

According to Enninful, who became the first man and the first Black editor at the helm of the magazine in 2017, the security guard instructed him to use the loading bay when he walked into British Vogue’s London headquarters on Wednesday. He says Condé Nast then “moved swiftly” to dismiss the security guard, who reportedly worked for a third-party contractor, which launched an investigation. “But it just goes to show that sometimes it doesn’t matter what you’ve achieved in the course of your life: the first thing that some people will judge you on is the colour of your skin,” Enninful wrote.

“Just because our timelines and weekends are returning to normal, we cannot let the world return to how it was,” he added. “Change needs to happen now.”
