Chelsea Peretti has always been a force to be reckoned with — the actress, comedian, and writer has both written for and played some all-time great comedic roles, including Farley on the Kroll Show and Gina Linetti on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. But you may not know that you can also count musician among her many talents. Earlier this year, Peretti released Foam and Flotsam, a coffee-themed EP featuring collaborations with Reggie Watts and Juliette Lewis. Now she’s gifting us with another coffee-based concept album, Phosphorescent Panic. Standouts include the bop “JAVADAWGS” with Watts and Kate Berlant, plus a collaboration with riot-grrrl icon Kathleen Hanna.
In our latest Cut Chat, Peretti speaks with culture editor Kerensa Cadenas about her foray into the music world, her Love Island addiction, and her new film, Spinster, which is now available on VOD.
